Enterelac Tunisian Crochet Blanket In The Round - Free Pattern

#5 yarn in 5 colors
8mm Tunisian crochet hook

YO = yarn over
TSS = Tunisian Simple Stitch

Finished size: 60” x 60”


I used Lion Brand Jiffy yarn in Caffe' (color A), Oat (color B), Chili (color C), Sky (color D), Avocado (Color E).

I used a 10" bamboo Tunisian crochet hook.

Instructions:

Center Rectangle
Ch 12 in Color A.
Foundation Row:  Pick up a loop in the second chain from hook. Keeping loops on hook, pick up a loop in each chain across (12 loops on hook)
Return Pass: YO, draw through one loop, *YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. 1 loop left on hook.
Row 1: Skip the first vertical bar and TSS in each vertical bar across (12 loops on hook)
Return Pass: YO, draw through one loop, *YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. 1 loop left on hook.
Rows 2-18: Repeat Row 1 and Return Pass.
Bind off Row:  Skip the first vertical bar and *pick up a loop through the next vertical bar, YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.

Round 1
Change to Color B. Join yarn at outer corner of the center rectangle. Chain 6.
Foundation Row:  Pick up a loop in the second chain from hook. Keeping loops on hook, pick up a loop in each chain across (6 loops on hook). Pick up a loop from the edge of the Center Rectangle (put your hook in the space behind the two loops on the edge of the rectangle). This joins the round to the rectangle (7 loops on hook)
Return Pass: YO, draw through one loop, *YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. 1 loop left on hook.
Row 1: Skip the first vertical bar and TSS in each vertical bar across (6 loops on hook). Pick up a loop from the edge of the Center Rectangle (7 loops on hook)
Return Pass: YO, draw through one loop, *YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. 1 loop left on hook.
Row 2: Repeat Row 1 and Return Pass.
Repeat until you have worked all the way along one side of the Center Rectangle.
Bind off Row:  Skip the first vertical bar and *pick up a loop through the next vertical bar, YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. Pick up a loop from the edge of the Center Rectangle, YO, draw through 2 loops. Fasten off.


You are now going to work the second side of the Center Rectangle.
**Rejoin yarn to outer corner of the First Round you have just completed. Chain 6.
Foundation Row:  Pick up a loop in the second chain from hook. Keeping loops on hook, pick up a loop in each chain across (6 loops on hook). Pick up a loop from the edge of the next side of the Center Rectangle (7 loops on hook).
Return Pass: YO, draw through one loop, *YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. 1 loop left on hook.
Row 1: Skip the first vertical bar and TSS in each vertical bar across (6 loops on hook). Pick up a loop from the edge of the Center Rectangle (7 loops on hook)
Return Pass: YO, draw through one loop, *YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. 1 loop left on hook.
Row 2: Repeat Row 1 and Return Pass.
Repeat until you have worked all the way along one side of the Center Rectangle.
Bind off Row:  Skip the first vertical bar and *pick up a loop through the next vertical bar, YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. Pick up a loop from the edge of the Center Rectangle, YO, draw through 2 loops. Fasten off.

Repeat from ** for the remaining two sides of the Center Rectangle.

You now have a Center Rectangle and a completed First Round.


Round 2
Change to Color A
***Join yarn at outer corner of the Round you have just completed. Chain 6.
Foundation Row:  Pick up a loop in the second chain from hook. Keeping loops on hook, pick up a loop in each chain across (6 loops on hook). Pick up a loop from the edge of the previous Round. This joins the current Round to the previous Round (7 loops on hook)
Return Pass: YO, draw through one loop, *YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. 1 loop left on hook.
Row 1: Skip the first vertical bar and TSS in each vertical bar across (6 loops on hook). Pick up a loop from the edge of the previous Round (7 loops on hook)
Return Pass: YO, draw through one loop, *YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. 1 loop left on hook.
Row 2: Repeat Row 1 and Return Pass.
Repeat until you have worked all the way along one side of the previous round.
Bind off Row:  Skip the first vertical bar and *pick up a loop through the next vertical bar, YO, draw through 2 loops. Repeat from * across. Pick up a loop from the edge of the previous round, YO, draw through 2 loops. Fasten off.
