Crochet Lacy Hair Net Snood - Free Pattern
I wanted something to hold my long, wet, curly hair in place while it dries. I came up with this snood, which is lacy and very baggy.
Materials:
#4 cotton yarn (I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton)
Hook Size 5mm
tr = treble crochet
dc = double crochet
sc = single crochet
Instructions
Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch7, *tr1, ch3, repeat from * 7 times, join with a slip stitch into the 4th chain of ch7. (8tr)
Round 2: ch7, *tr1 into next space, ch3, tr1 into tr from previous round, ch3, repeat from * around, join with a slip stitch into the 4th chain of ch7. (16 tr)
Round 3: Repeat round 2. (32 tr)
Round 4: ch7, *[tr1 into tr from previous round, ch3] 3 times,) [tr1, ch3] in next space, repeat from *around, join with a slip stitch into the 4th chain of ch7. (42 tr)
Rounds 5-12: ch7, [tr1, ch3] into each tr around, join with a slip stitch into the 4th chain of ch7. (42 tr)
Round 13: dc in each tr and each chain sp around (84 dc)
Round 14: dc in every other dc around (42 dc)
Round 15: dc in each dc around (42 dc)
Round 16: sc in each dc around (42 sc)
Rounds 17-19: sc in each sc around (42 sc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
You are missing round 5. And on rounds 6-12, do you mean tr1 into each tr, ch3 around? Or is it just tr1 into each tr around? I'm confused as it doesn't look like what is in your photo and also you say in round 13 to dec in each tr and chain sp around.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the confusion. The pattern has been corrected. It should be rounds 5-12 not 6-12: tr1, ch3 into each tr around.
ReplyDeleteIn round 13 you dc (double crochet not decrease) in each tr and each chain space.
Thank you for your prompt reply.....that's what I thought and continued to do that.....I love this pattern altho I'm having trouble with my hook sticking to the cotton that I chose.....lol. Tr is really slow going in cotton. Thank you once again for the prompt reply and the awesome pattern <3
DeleteI can not figure out round 4. How you come out with 42?? Is it 3 tr in one space. Help
ReplyDeleteIn Row 4 you are still increasing, as you were in Rows 2 and 3. So you're stitching into the stitch from the row before and the space from the row before.
DeleteI'm having an issue with row 4 I'm ending up with way more than 42!
DeleteDo you have 32 stitches on Round 3?
DeleteIf yes, Round 4 : chain 7, then tr1 and ch3 into tr from previous round. *Repeat tr1 and ch3 into tr from previous round 3 times. Then tr1 and ch3 in next space, repeat from *around and join with a slip stitch into the 4th chain of ch7. You should now have 42 tr plus spaces - the spaces are not counted as stitches.
I crocheted this using thread...the opening is too small to go around my head lol. I am going to unravel and see if it fits without the reducing...
ReplyDeleteThe pattern is designed and sized for #4 yarn. If you're using a thinner thread then it will come out smaller which is why it won't fit.
DeleteShould there should be chains to start each row beginning row 13?
ReplyDeleteNo chains. You're using double crochet stictches. So start the row with a dc.
DeleteYour pattern is awesome! For those who find the fit off: crochet pattern as is until the sc round, row 16. Measure your gauge in sc, measure your head, calculate the number of stitches needed to fit your head, space out your increases (or decreases) evenly over the 42 stitches worked so far.
ReplyDeleteIn this pattern, do the ch7 at the start of the rows count as a treble crochet in the stitch count at the end of each round? Also, when you say to repeat from the *, do you mean to do once and then do it that number of times again or only the number of times after the *?
ReplyDeleteYes, the ch 7 counts as a treble crochet. As per the instructions, repeat from * around. This means you repeat from the * and keep crocheting AROUND to the end to make the next row.
