Crochet Baskets

Small basket: 8” wide x 3” tall

Medium basket: 9” wide x 3.5” tall

Large basket: 12” wide x 4” tall

 

You can make the baskets taller by adding more rounds when crocheting the sides.

Crocheted in joined rounds. The baskets start at the center of the base of the basket.

Worked with 3 strands of cotton yarn held together throughout. You can use 3 strands of the same color, or use strands of different colors, depending on what look you want. I used a multi color yarn, a plain yarn of a coordinating color, and a white yarn.

 

Materials:

Yarn: #4 Cotton Yarn

8mm crochet hook

 

Stitches:

Ch = chain

St(s) = stitch(es)

Sc = single crochet

Sl st = slip stitch

 

Instructions:

Base

All Size Baskets:

With 3 strands of yarn held together, make a magic ring.

Round 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in ring, join with sl st to first sc (6 sc)

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc (12 sc)

Round 3: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next st. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (18 sc)

Round 4: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (24 sc)

Round 5: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (30 sc)

Round 6: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (36 sc)

Round 7: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (42 sc)

Round 8: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (48 sc)

Round 9: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 7 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (54 sc)

Round 10: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 8 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (60 sc)

 

Small Basket Only:

Continue to Sides.

 

Medium Basket Only:

Round 11: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 9 sts, Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (66 sc)

Round 12: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 10 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (72 sc)

Continue to sides.

 

Large Basket Only:

Round 11: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 9 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (66 sc)

Round 12: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 10 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (72 sc)

Round 13: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 11 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (78 sc)

Round 14: Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, sc in next 12 sts. Repeat from * around, join with sl st to first sc (84 sc)

Sides All Baskets:

Round 1: Ch 1. sc in back loops only in each st around, join with sl st to first sc (60,72,84sc)

Rounds 2 - (6, 9, 11): Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc (60,72,84sc)
