Crochet Baby Car Seat Blanket In Shell Stitch With Shell Edging 

The blanket is crocheted in shell stitch. Each shell is made using (sc, hdc, dc) in a cluster stitch. The edging is made with a different shell stitch; (5dc) in each cluster stitch. 

The finished blanket measures approx. 22” x 16”


Free Pattern


Materials:
#3 yarn (I used Bernat Softee Baby)
H (5mm) crochet hook


Instructions: ch 62

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc into each ch across (61 sts.)

Row 2: Ch 2, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1, dc) in first sc, *skip next 2 sts, (1 sc 1 hdc, 1 dc) in next st, repeat from * across, ending with a sc in last st, turn.

Row 3-36:  Repeat row 2 until piece measures appox. 20” or until desired length is reached. Fasten off and weave in ends.


Edging: 

Round 1: Join contrast color to end of row 36, ch 1 and sc around, 2 sc in corners. Join with sl st to ch 1.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc around, (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner. Join with sl st to ch 1.


Round 3:  Ch 3, 4 dc into corner ch 2, *skip 1 st, sc in next st, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st. repeat from * around, 5 dc in all corner ch 2. Fasten off and weave in ends.
