Crochet Baby Mary Jane Shoes

Three sizes. Same pattern. Size is adjusted by using a larger size hook.

Size: Preemie, Preemie/Newborn, Newborn
Finished Size: 3” x 2”, 3 ½” x 2”, 4” x 2 ¼”

#3 yarn
Hook size: Preemie 4mm, Preemie/Newborn 5mm, Newborn 6mm

I used Bernat Softee Baby and steel crochet hooks with ergonomic handles (Love these hooks!!)


ch = chain
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
sts = stitches
dc2tog = dc two stitches together
hdc2tog = hdc two stitches together

Instructions:
Sole:
Rnd 1. Ch 11, hdc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next 8 ch, 3 hdc in last ch, turn to work in other side of chain, hdc in next 8 ch, 2 hdc in last ch, sl st to first hdc
Rnd 2. Ch 1, 2 hdc in same st, hdc in next 9 sts, 2hdc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 8 sts, 2 hdc in last 2 sts, sl st to first hdc
Rnd 3. Ch 1, 2 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 9 sts, 2 hdc in next 6 sts, hdc in next 10 sts, 2 hdc in last 2 sts, sl st to first hdc
Upper:
Rnd 4. Ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in each st around, sl st to first hdc (38 sts)
Rnd 5. Ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next 10 sts, dc2tog 10 times, hdc in next 7 sts, sl st to first hdc
Rnd 6. Ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next 10 sts, hdc2tog 5 times, hdc in next 7 sts, sl st to first hdc
Rnd 7. (left shoe) Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 9 sts, make strap: ch 14, sc in 9th ch from hook and next  5 ch, sc in beginning sc of strap, sc in next 13 sts, sl st to first sc
Rnd 7. (right shoe) Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 17 sts, make strap: ch 14, sc in 9th ch from hook and next 5 ch, sc in beginning sc of strap, sc in next 6 sts, sl st to first sc
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Flower Button:
Ch 3, sl st to form a ring, (ch 1, dc, ch 1, sl st) into ring. Repeat 4 times to make five petals.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail to attach button to shoe on opposite side of strap.
